What is Business Interruption Insurance?

If your business suffers damage which has a negative impact on your revenue, Business Interruption insurance can compensate you for lost income as your facility is restored.

If your business suffers damage or a catastrophic event, such as a hurricane or fire, you will need to find a way to cover the income lost while your business is repaired. An additional problem inherent to any business interruption is that your business will still need pay bills and other normal expenses while closed for repairs. Business interruption coverage can cover many of these costs and reimburse your business. The core coverages of business interruption insurance are: income lost due to temporary closure, fixed expenses such as rent and utilities, and expenses of operating from a temporary location.

Examples of what business interruption insurance would cover:
  1. Pay for lost net income and expenses such as mortgage, advertising, taxes and salaries
  2. Pay relocation and advertising expenses if you move your business temporarily
